Mecklenburg-Vorpommern offers outstanding career prospects: Because of overall ideal conditions, a growing number of international companies have settled here and developed a broad labour market for trainees, young professionals and skilled workers. The variety of sectors ranges from tourism, health care, trade, logistics, mechanical engineering, wind energy and IT services to the maritime industry. In addition, the state on the Baltic Sea also specifically promotes sustainable areas such as life sciences and environmental technology, and offers freedom and support for motivated people with good ideas.
The excellent work-life balance plays an important role in the decision to live and work in MV. Clean, unspoilt nature is often only a few minutes by car from the workplace, whether it is the river landscape of the Müritz, the many lakes of the country or the Baltic Sea beach. In addition, there is a wide range of leisure activities for the whole family, from a visit to the museum to a trip to the zoo and numerous sports activities to weekends on the houseboat. Moreover, the cost of living is comparatively low.
In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, children and a working life are particularly easy to combine. Here you will find one of the best and most comprehensive child day care offers in Germany. More than half of the children under 3 and almost all 3- to 6-year-olds attend a day care centre or have a day care person. More than two thirds of all primary school children are registered at the day nursery. Opening hours are increasingly being adapted to the needs of parents, who are often employed in shifts. In the state capital of Schwerin as well as in Neubrandenburg, Stralsund, Rostock, Demmin and Wismar, the first 24-hour day care centres have been established. Since the beginning of 2020, the day care support for children in nurseries, after-school care, kindergartens and day care is completely free of charge. MV is thus a real pioneer, a true family state.

Education means future for young people. In principle, there should be equal opportunities for all children and adolescents as regards access to education. As part of more independence for schools, quality is to be developed further and pupils supported individually as far as possible. Environmentalists and firefighters, politically committed people or scouts - numerous youth clubs and associations of various thematic and ideological orientations are active in MV. The children and adolescents themselves design, organise and take responsibility for essential parts of the work. The associations and organisations thus offer them a lot a space for self-fulfilment and creativity. This is also the aim of youth work, which encompasses extra-curricular education, sports and leisure activities, counselling and also target group-oriented youth work and holidays.
With its high rate of in-company training, MV is already one of the frontrunners in the economy among the new federal states. Exciting perspectives are open to trainees here. They start their careers in the best possible way. Studying in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is also a good idea. Universities and colleges rich in tradition offer the best prerequisites for starting off in your dream job afterwards. Good study conditions lay the foundation for this, innovative, practice-oriented courses of studies ensure a successful career start.

The mind gets an active as well: Museums of art, technology or natural history invite visitors all year round, nationally known events such as the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern attract great artists to the Baltic Sea. In addition, there are numerous educational opportunities for senior citizens, such as the Senior Citizens' Academy at the University of Rostock.
The aim of MV's senior citizens policy is for older people to actively partake in social life. The state programme "Getting Older in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" is intended to help older people lead autonomous and self-determined lives, to promote the integration of the older generation into society and to involve senior citizens even more closely in society. The state has a good nursing care infrastructure. In addition to inpatient care, a variety of alternative forms of housing for older people have developed in recent years in order to satisfy the demand for more self-determination.
